Matías Tolsà Montedoro

I was born in Argentina in 1983, but I grew up in Lleida, Catalonia. After graduating from the Escola d’Arts Ondara in Tàrrega, I went on to specialize in illustration at La Llotja in Barcelona.

My illustrations and caricatures have been published in local media such as La Confidencial, Chasqui, Lectura, La Quera, Revista Plec, Diari Segre, and La Mañana, as well as in national publications such as El Jueves, TV3, El Triangle, Web Negre, and others.

I have served as co-art director of Orsai magazine and as a staff member of Bonsai magazine; I illustrated the novel Ikatú y la ciudad enarbolada (Ed. Milenio, 2019), as well as several book covers for Pagès Editors, Editorial Orsai, and Editorial Obstare. In 2022, I published Caricaturistas de profesión with Nórdica Libros, alongside 10 of Spain’s top press cartoonists. In 2025, I published my first graphic novel, “La Gran Caída de Max,” with GP Ediciones and Álex Martínez Ruano as the writer. At the end of that same year, I published “50 Caras de la Literatura” with Parolas Languages, my first book of cartoons.

I have won several awards and honorable mentions at international caricature festivals, including:

- Grand Prix at the World Press Cartoon 2022 (Portugal)
